Celebrity comedian Tiffany Haddish is coming to Netflix in full force.
Her new all-female stand-up comedy series, Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready, will feature some of her fellow comedian friends, including Chaunté Wayans from 50 Shades of Black, April Macie from Snoop Dogg’s Bad Girls of Comedy, Tracey Ashley from The Last O.G., Aida Rodriguez from Last Comic Standing, Flame Monroe from Def Comedy Jam and Marlo Williams from Comicview.
“I am introducing six of my favorite comedians—in my eyes, they are superstars. The epitome of ‘They Ready,’” Haddish said.
The six-part series will be executively produced by Haddish’s She Ready Productions in collaboration with Wanda Sykes and Page Hurwitz’s Push It Productions. The series will give overlooked female comedians a spotlight in a widely male-dominated industry. This series will provide a comic relief while essentially combating the issue of equality within this field.
“I’ve always thought Tiffany Haddish was funny, especially after seeing her in Girls Trip, so I’m excited to see what this new stand-up series is about,” HU student Michelle Ezeigbo said.
Haddish had her first big break in the comedy Girls Trip starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Regina Hall. Haddish’s authentic personality peeked through her character showing how funny she really is. She is taking her comedy from the big screen to the little screen.
Netflix also will feature Haddish alongside Ali Wong in the upcoming Tuca and Bertie on May 3, and Haddish has her own hourlong comedy special coming out on the platform later this year.
“Haddish has always been real about how the industry works, so I’m glad she’s taking the time to shed light on other overlooked female comedians,” HU student Joshua Thompson said.
