The Soul Train Awards of 2015 was aired on Centric and BET Sunday, November 29th, 2015. The ceremony was hosted by the eccentric Erykah Badu, but what was with that shade that she threw at Iggy Azalea during the beginning of the show?

Despite what happened on the stage, let’s discuss what happened on the carpet. Ms. Badu was looking magical as ever as she strutted down on the red carpet in her elongated black hat and widened black shoulder sleeves that complement her long black dress. Let’s not forget the glorious and admirable purple eyeshadow and lipstick.

Khalida Volou, a junior journalism major from Baltimore had to give props to the host’s outfit. “I respect Erykah Badu’s fashion, she’s rockin’ that top hat.”

According to Sydney Miles, a junior criminal justice major from Long Island, New York, “The 2015 Soul Train Awards was the best one hands down! It brought originality back.” This Soul Train Awards really brought old school style to 2015. Whether it was high-waisted flared pants or an array of colorful suits, this year’s red carpet really was the epitome of glamour. Many celebrities wore outfits that glistened with sequins. Others stood out with gold and silver accessories.

One of the stars of the night was the legendary Baby Face that was honored with the Legend Award. In celebration, Fantasia Barrino sang Superwoman by Karyn White. She glowed in a gorgeous floor length red dress with cutouts at the shoulder and a slit to her upper thigh. With flawless makeup she captured the whole rooms attention with her beauty and talent.

Another fashion standout was Jidenna. While winning best new artist, he was the classic man; timeless and dapper yet still sleek and cool with his simple cane as an accessory. His green suit and complementing amber beard and hair was a truly unique standout look that surely drew many wandering eyes throughout the night.

Demetria McKinney, Kat Graham and Vivian Green were all showing skin in their short cut, belly baring, cleavage flaunting outfits. With vibrant and sparkling purples, greens and blacks these ladies flaunted their physique throughout the night.
