Nick Young, also known as ‘Swaggy P,’ never ceases to amaze the world on and off the court. From throwing up a shot in a game and celebrating before it even goes in, and it doesn’t, to letting the world know God, himself, gave Swaggy P the name Swaggy P, the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard celebrated his birthday in a very special way.

During his 30th birthday celebration, Young got  down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, rap artist Iggy Azalea. Azalea, who had just cancelled her world tour for the second time last week, immediately responded “Yes!” to seal the deal. The engagement ring is 10.43 carats with an estimated value of $500,000. Azalea isn’t the most liked artist in the industry right now, but Swaggy P loves her, flaws and all. And at least now, with her tour’s cancellation, she will have more time on her hands to plan a wedding.

Nick Young also had some extra time on his hands as well over the past few months. After suffering a fracture in his left kneecap, Young was only able to play in 42 games during the 2014-2015 season, missing all of March and April. In those 42 games, Young averaged 13.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 24 minutes per game.

With more attention coming Swaggy P’s way, due to the engagement and his pending free agency, people have still not forgotten the horrific season Young and the Lakers had. The Lakers ended the season 21-61, the second worst record in the West and the third worst record in the league. Although they had many injuries during the season that hindered their success, namely to future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant, whose set to return for 2015-16, the Lakers did land the second overall pick in this year’s draft.

With a healthy roster and prospective draft picks, the Lakers hope to redeem themselves of this previous season and build towards the future. And, who knows, maybe this means they can also land Iggy Azalea as another major acquisition for Lakers’ halftime shows? Only time will tell.
